Together - giving peace a better chance to make a better world
Peace
Peace starts, and it continues, or not, in, between, around and among us.
Accordingly, the Woodbridge Monument for Peace reaches out through its visitors to friends, neighbours and others. In the nature of peace it reaches without exception around the world.
The Monument is designed to promote and support shared learning and simple practical actions in pursuit of humanity's desire for a peaceful world.
The Monument's Trees for Peace are peaceful and reassuring symbols to focus our attention on peace.
The Monument's Trail is a well-being amenity for physical and mental re-creation that also reminds us of our many simple capacities for creating peace.
Humanity
Our widespread interest and appetite for a better peace obliges us to underpin the hard-pressed work for peace by national and international bodies.
We can support their work through simple practical actions that will steadily refresh and spread peace from within our communities.
The Monument’s ways of pursuing peace draw the recent century of research, fieldwork and college teaching, and on experience and advice from past leaders in a variety of fields of human endeavour.
That advice has advocated patience and persistence in a wide range of simple actions, in learning and understanding how those actions will help peace, in reinforcing them and ourselves by sharing them with an amenable companion and by talking about them with others in our wider communities.
This website invites and will support interest in many such actions and related areas of knowledge and understanding.
An Open Monument
In the nature of peace, the Woodbridge Monument for Peace is not 'for Woodbridge' but 'for Peace'. Its open structure encircling a large part of the town symbolises that larger role.
In that spirit, one among many aspirations for this Monument is that it will attract the identification and naming of additional Trees for Peace, or even the foundation of similar monuments elsewhere.
Within Woodbridge additional Trees for Peace could create valuable extensions of the Trail. Trees for Peace elsewhere would extend the Monument locally, regionally and further.
Trees for Peace in other communities could lead to a Virtual Forest for Peace and draw many more into working in simple ways, and together as we must, for peace.
A Virtual Forest for Peace is the substance of one of the Actions for peace suggested on this site [Link]
So, more on that in a later Post!
