The cost is simply a little thought and a message with a photograph as an optional extra.
All you then do is nominate a tree for this Virtual Forest. It will give other donors the pleasure of knowing that their Gift has not been alone.
Where this idea came from
The first Tree provided a simple public symbol for peace.
When a second Tree was added and ceremonially dedicated, one thing led to another: it created a walking trail, the trail needed a map to show the way, the map proved to include a wide variety of urban and maritime scenery AND bits of forest.
The Trail is indicated on this satellite photograph by red dots along urban streets (at the top), following a riverbank (on the right) and (at bottom left) threading through trees and woodland.
A Virtual Forest for Peace will acknowledge the natural connections between the Woodbridge Trees for Peace and innumerable trees globally.
Some of those others are dedicated to Peace in different ways, such as this 'Hiroshima' Memorial tree in London's Tavistock Square gardens.
The Virtual Forest is an opportunity for us to signal to each other any wishes we have for a better peace, a better world, simply by nominating a tree near you.
The Forest could be a picture gallery composed from photographs of favourite trees from far and wide.
Or it could be a set of marks on a map, or - simpler - a list of locations identified by a street PostCode.
